Telehealth at Southern Indian Health Council

• What is Telehealth?
• Telehealth is the exchange of health information from one site to another via electronic communications. The telehealth service offered to you will allow you to have a medical/dental/behavioral health appointment with a provider via secure and interactive video equipment. You will be able to speak in real-time with the provider during your telehealth appointment.

• Is Teleheatlh safe?
• Yes, all telehealth sessions are safe, secure, encrypted, and follow privacy (i.e., HIPAA) guidelines as traditional, in-person health appointments. Your telehealth appointments will always be kept confidential. In addition, t-e-lehealth appointments are NEVER audio or video recorded.

• Thing to know about your Telehealth appointment:
• You will schedule your telehealth appointments the same way you schedule an appointment with your provider now, by calling 619-445-1188. You will also receive a confirmation email from OTTOhealth once a Medical or Behavioral Health appointment is scheduled.
• As with your traditional, in-person health appointments it is your responsibility to call SIHC at 619-445-1188 to cancel an appointment if you are unable to attend your telehealth appointment. Cancellations       should be made at least 24 hours prior to the appointment time.
• On the day of your Medical or Behavioral Health appointment you will receive a virtual visit email reminder with instructions for you to “Join Visit”.
• You may voice questions either before or after your Telehealth appointment with the provider or with SIHC’s office staff.
• You will complete a Telehealth consent prior to your Telehealth visit. If you are a new patient you will be supplied with a New Patient Packet which will have both the Telehealth Consent and the Consent to            Treatment forms to complete.
• If you are prescribed medication(s) by the provider, you will be able to pick it up directly at your pharmacy of choice as the provider will either phone in or electronically prescribe your medication(s).
• If you miss a telemedicine appointment and need a prescription refill or you have any questions about your medication, you must contact SIHC directly at 619-445-1188. Someone from SIHC’s offices will get        in touch with the provider on your behalf. Please be sure to call at least 72 hours prior to running out of medication.
